Ephesians 1:3-8 (NIV): "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding."
Those who have played any type of backyard baseball remember the way we picked teams. Toss the bat and work your grips to the final position at the end of the bat. The one who covered the nub of the handle got first pick. The order in which you were chosen gave a sense of worth and value to the whole exercise! No one wanted to be picked last!
Spiritually, it's a whole different ballgame. Being picked in any round is a blessing and an extension of God's overwhelming grace. The God of the universe has picked us to be on His team. He has imputed the righteousness of Christ on us . . . not by anything we have done or deserve.
Meditate On This!
Has it been some time since you seriously thought on the following: Who is God? What has He done? What does He want me to do? In the business of the week, please set aside some valuable time to consider all God is and has done for you!
